BD Cell and Biomarker Preservation Solutions
BD Cell and Biomarker Preservation Solutions
Research relies on the principle of consistency and the reliability of methods to gain valuable insights. Obtaining samples for research outside of the laboratory increases the variation factor and may provide inconsistent results. These factors are attributed to pre-analytical variables and account for 62% of errors in the clinical environment1. In areas of immunology, transcriptomics, and others alike, non-specific blood collection tubes, time & temperature, and variation in handling of samples can adversely impact the quality and consistency of data. The correct collection, transportation, and storage of blood samples are the first important steps in research and clinical breakthroughs.

*These are examples of applications where BD and PAXgene® products can be utilized for research using cell and biomarker preservation tubes for whole blood. Users must validate use of product for their specific molecular diagnostic assay.
For over 70 years, BD has been a trusted name for blood specimen management solutions. The BD Vacutainer® family of products for blood cell and biomarker preservation are widely used in clinical and biomarker research across the world, in conjunction with a variety of downstream molecular, proteomics and cellular applications. These products can help ensure consistency in results, accuracy of data and workflow efficiency when measuring biomarkers.
Mean RNA integrity number (RIN) scores for all specimens in total (mean) are shown for the indicated storage times. The error bars indicate the standard deviations of RIN scores of all specimens from all subjects**.
The PAXgene® Blood RNA Tube is CE marked for in vitro diagnostic use
*Specimen needs to be stored upright at room temp for a minimum of 2 hours before transferring to the fridge. Please follow IFU.

Minimized Blood Cell Lysis and Release of Genomic DNA. DNA profile of blood after extended storage in a PAXgene® Blood ccfDNA Tube (CE-IVD) is similar to blood collected in an EDTA Tube processed immediately12
The PAXgene® Blood ccfDNA Tube is CE marked for in vitro diagnostic use
Product Info:
Samples collected in PAXgene® Blood DNA Tubes (IVD) were processed at one site (internal) on the QIAsymphony. Median DNA yield was 28.9 µg DNA/ml blood, with 95% of samples ≥18.2 µg DNA/ml blood. DNA purity is equally high, with an A260/A280 ratio of 1.7–1.913.

Blood transcriptome profiling and response of pandemic patients
The research activities in virology and transcriptomics have taken centre stage in the light of the global pandemic. Vaccine development and monitoring of the pandemic virus variants have become urgent priorities.
The PAXgene® RNA Blood Collection Tube provides a robust proprietary reagent that immediately stabilises RNA, with continued evidence to show that the integrity of RNA is not compromised even if stored frozen* for a least 11 years. > Link to product
The BD Vacutainer® Cell Preparation Tube (CPT) is designed to simplify PBMC extraction, remove the variability due to manual gradient techniques, reduce consumables, and ensure that sampling is consistent for challenging collection environments. > Link to product
