The Proceed™ Ventral Patch implants showed greater adhesion formation than the other materials. Postimplantation behaviour was comparable for Parietex™ Composite Ventral Patch and Ventralex™ ST Hernia Patch including scarce adhesion formation and optimal mesothelialization. Regarding tissue integration, Ptx showed greater long-term collagenization of the neoformed tissue.
This is the first European and American guideline on the treatment of umbilical and epigastric hernias. It is recommended that symptomatic umbilical and epigastric hernias are repaired by an open approach with a preperitoneal flat mesh.
