This final analysis of long-term follow-up results on the use of Ventralight™ ST Hernia Patch in laparoscopic ventral hernia repair confirms our preliminary findings of the previous two reports. Use of Ventralight™ ST Hernia Patch is associated with good short - and long - term outcomes and can be considered as safe and feasible in LVHR.
The current study suggests that LVHR procedure with a light-weight polypropylene mesh has low intra-operative complication rates and acceptable post-operative and late complication rates for both IH (incisional) and primary (PH) hernias. IH patients are at a much higher risk of recurrence and surgical strategy should prefer non absorbable or mixed fixation systems. The current authors suggest that absorbable tacks alone should be avoided in LVHR interventions.

Our present study confirms our previous findings on the use of this mesh. LVHR using the Ventralight™ ST Mesh offers good results in the short and long term. In addition, the Echo™ PS Positioning System allows a fluent, correct, and quicker positioning of the mesh. In our view, use of the Ventralight™ ST Mesh should be considered in LVHR. The Echo™ PS Positioning System is especially useful for larger hernias in case of a small abdominal working space.
